Even Out: Balanced Chores (“Even Out”, “the app”) helps a household share recurring chores fairly. To do that it needs to know who lives with you, which chores exist and who did what. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, who else processes it, and how you stay in control.

In short

1. Who is responsible

The data controller for the app and this website is BetuWorks, based in the Netherlands. For anything about your data, email info@betuworks.com.

2. What we collect and why

Your account

Your household

We use this data to generate each week’s plan and to show everyone a fair, rolling four-week balance. That is the whole purpose of the app.

Notifications

If you turn notifications on, we store a push token for your device so we can send the weekly “your week is ready” message, reminders for overdue tasks and a short recap of the week. The token is removed when you turn notifications off, sign out or delete your account.

Crash reports and usage statistics

3. Who can see your data

Your household. Everyone in your household can see the household’s members, tasks, plans, completions, notes and balance. That transparency is how the app keeps things fair, so only invite people you live with.

Service providers. We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf, under data-processing agreements:

Google, Apple and Cloudflare may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Those transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

We never sell your data, use it for advertising or share it with data brokers. We only disclose it if the law requires us to.

5. How long we keep it

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. Most of your data can be viewed and edited directly in the app. For anything else, email info@betuworks.com; we reply within one month.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the authority in the EU country where you live.

7. Children

Accounts are meant for people aged 16 or older. Younger household members can be included as a placeholder member: just a name, added by an adult in the household, with no account, email address or device data.

8. On your device

The app keeps your sign-in session and your display settings (light or dark mode, accent colour and text size) on your device. It doesn’t use advertising identifiers and doesn’t access your contacts, photos, location or calendar. If you export your plan to a calendar, the file is created on your device and only goes where you choose to share it.

9. This website

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or tracking. Its fonts are served by the website itself, so loading a page doesn’t contact Google or other third parties. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser and never sent anywhere. The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect them against abuse.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our hosting provider. Access is limited by database rules, so each household can read only its own data.

11. Changes

If we change how we handle your data, we update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we’ll also let you know in the app.
